Utah Bishops’ Central Storehouse
Salt Lake City
The new Utah Bishops' Central Storehouse is a 570,400-sq-ft complex built to help The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints respond to disasters and care for those in need.
Constructed on 36 acres in Salt Lake City, the storehouse can hold 65,000 pallets of food and supplies. The facility also includes offices, a transportation center, tire storage and a fire pump house. More than 40,000 cu yd of concrete were used to build the structure.
The warehouse and its mechanical, electrical and fire protection systems were designed to withstand a maximum-scale earthquake. The facility could be up and running within 60 minutes after such an event and be fully self-sustainable for seven days.
