LIVESTRONG Sporting Park
Kansas City, Kan.
LIVESTRONG Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan., is a $135.5-million Major League Soccer stadium with 37 luxury suites and a seating capacity of 18,500 for soccer games. Seats can be removed to accommodate more than 25,000 people for concerts and other events. It is the most technologically advanced stadium in Major League Soccer.
Architectural fins incorporated into the design of the building's facade represent the movement of the players on the field, while the corkscrew, sloping roof canopy is designed to emulate the movement of the ball. The roof covers every seat in the stadium with polycarbonate sections created as an aesthetic element while also allowing sunlight through for turf growth.
