The new park, which replaces the city’s 50-year-old outdoor pool at Benedict Park, has a large pool area, two slides and a lazy river with a wave machine.

Pinkard completed the hyper-fast-tracked Oasis ahead of schedule and under budget despite losing the two primary water slides to a factory fire halfway through construction. The city’s original construction schedule called for completion July 1, but Pinkard proposed a phased construction plan that allowed for the early completion. The city held its grand opening June 17.

The five-acre park includes a body flume water slide and inner-tube flume slide; bathhouse and concessions/ticket office buildings; a leisure pool with tot area and connected, deeper adult pool; and variable-depth lazy river with deck sprays, bench jets, rapids and vortex. The lazy river is the only one in the state to feature a wave generator. A deepwater pool with a one-meter dive stand is adjacent to the lazy river.

“This project was constructed in approximately six months, which is extremely impressive given the fact that Pinkard started in the middle of winter,” said owner’s representative John Bills, Consillium Partners. “Over the course of the project, the owner was able to accept alternates without an increase to the overall guaranteed maximum price due to the savings realized during Pinkard’s strong buyout process.”
