Boulders Washington Village Breaks Ground

Text size: A A

Wonderland Hill Development Co. started construction in late May on Washington Village in Boulder. When complete, the Boulder co-housing community will have 33 residences with a combination of lofts, flats, townhomes and single-family residences.
Phase One includes the school flats, two carriage homes and six single-family homes surrounding a planned city park at 13th and Cedar streets. Phase Two will consist of the remaining 17 living residences in four buildings that surround a courtyard, preserving the large maple tree on the north side of the school.
The largest building fronts along Broadway with parking underneath and will contain the co-housing common house and two 1,500-sq-ft neighborhood office spaces on the first floor.
Abatement work at the school is under way, and removal of the nonhistoric part of the school will begin in June, followed by installation of the underground sitework, which should be complete in 30 to 60 days. Current plans are to start construction of the three single-family homes north of the park this summer, as well as the two carriage buildings and renovation in the historic school building.
“We expect to have many future residents, city officials, and neighbors present,” said Steven Toot, Wonderland Hill Development Co.
