The City Creek project is designed to make Salt Lake City one of the few cities in the nation with a sustainably designed development at its core. The walkable urban community will be comprised of residences, offices and retail stores. It will span approximately 20 acres across three city blocks. This redevelopment was one of 60 pilot projects in the country selected to participate in a focus group to help the U.S. Green Building Council finalize its new LEED ND certification process.

Leonardo – Old Salt Lake City Library

Finish: April 2011

The Leonardo is an art, culture and science center developed in the former Salt Lake City main library. It is located on Salt Lake City’s Library Square, a newly developed block that also includes planned green space and the Salt Lake City Library. The city plans to see LEED certification for the retrofit.

Ogden/Weber Applied Technology College

Barker Family Health Building
Ogden, Utah
$18 million
Owner: State of Utah/DFCM
Architect: GSBS Architecture
Contractor: Okland Construction Co. Inc.
Engineers: Reaveley Engineers + Associates, Colvin Engineering, Envision Engineering
Start: Oct. 2009
Finish: April 2011

This design-build, 88,000-sq-ft building will double the college’s capacity for training and job placement for its 12 health-care-occupations programs, which include: clinical laboratory assistant, certified-nurse assistant, dental assistant, dental-office assistant and medical assistant. The project team is seeking LEED-Silver certification.

Southern Utah University — Science Center

Cedar City, Utah
$11.5 million
Owner: DFCM
Architect: MHTN Architects
Contractor: Big-D Construction
Engineers: InSite Engineering, Reaveley Engineers + Associates, Colvin Engineering Associates, Ken Garner Engineering, Jacob’s Consultancy
Start: April 2010
Finish: April 2011

The new 50,000-sq-ft, four-story building, constructed to the east of Southern Utah University’s existing Science Center, will include spaces for the departments of biology, nursing and physical science, classrooms, supply areas, labs, a vivarium, a museum and a greenhouse. This building is expected to achieve LEED-Silver certification.
