Pinkard Construction Co. of Lakewood completed construction in March of the new $16.2-million Benedict Park Place Block 4b in downtown Denver two weeks ahead of schedule.
The two-building, mixed-income residential apartments in the Park Avenue West/24th Avenue neighborhood is the fourth phase of a nine-phase affordable, mixed-income development in Park Avenue by the Housing Authority of the city and county of Denver.
Pinkard worked with in situ DESIGN to provide complete construction management/general contracting services. Project funding was partially provided by the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development’s Hope VI program.
College Center at Western State College
Construction is complete on the new 70,000-sq-ft, two-story, LEED-Gold-certified College Center at Western State College in Gunnison.
Besides being a LEED-Gold building, other sustainable elements within the building include 10 recycling centers and natural ventilation systems. The project, including recycling for the demolition and construction waste, diverted nearly 60% of the waste from landfills to regional recycling plants. The materials used in the construction were made up of 30% recycled content.
Nunn Construction Inc. of Colorado Springs completed the project two months ahead of schedule, allowing the college to move in during winter break, thus minimizing disruption while the college was in full session.
