New Trimble Building in Westminster Tops Out

Denver’s JE Dunn Construction celebrated the mid-September topping out of Trimble’s Westminster building project.  
Trimble currently has 164 locations, but the new 125,000-sq-ft, four-story building and research center located at 10368 Westmoor Dr. will be the first to be owned by Trimble. The company’s new location will also house all of its existing employees, with space to accommodate up to 570 people.

Trimble initially opened its Colorado location in October 2000 with 43 employees at the Church Ranch Office Center in Westminster, occupying approximately 29,000 sq ft.

Today, Trimble leases approximately 98,000 sq ft in Westminster’s Westmoor Technology Park, with more than 400 employees who primarily focus on marketing, testing and applications engineering in the construction, surveying, agriculture and mapping and geographic information system markets.

The JE Dunn project team, along with Trimble staff, are taking advantage of this unique opportunity to make full use of Trimble technologies that help field and mobile workers in business and government to be significantly more productive. Those technologies have already been instrumental in the project, from site planning with Tekla Structures and Tekla BIMSite, to site development using the complete package of civil/heavy highway technology, and structural/MEP layout using the Robotic Total Station, to project team collaboration utilizing Trimble’s Connected Community, among others. 

Since the groundbreaking just over four months ago, significant progress has been made on the project and the structural steel work has been completed.  This includes all utility work and approximately 95% of the sitework. The project will maintain an aggressive pace through its expected completion in April. Lean construction practices have been a key in maintaining the schedule, with the use of the Last Planner system and prefabrication to increase efficiency.

The project team is comprised of Trimble, owner; Wells Springs Inc., owner’s representative; OZ architecture, architect; and a large team of engineers, consultants and subcontractors. 
The project is pursuing LEED-Gold certification.
