The Hispanic Contractors of Colorado honored industry leaders and member firms at the association’s 21st Annual Awards Banquet on March 5 at the Denver Grand Hyatt. The community awards featured:

• Phillip A. Washington, general manager of Denver’s Regional Transportation District, who received the Public Achievement Award for his overall leadership and spearheading of the Eagle P3 Project, a public-private partnership serving as a pilot program that allows the U.S. Dept of Transportation to study PPPs, including completion dates, projections of costs and benefits and overall project performance. 
• Ismael Guerrero, executive director of the Denver Housing Authority, who received the Community Advocate Award for leading DHA’s nationally recognized Family Self-Sufficiency program; Youth Employment Program/Youth Employment Academy; and ASSET program, which utilizes community-training partners to provide residents with the latest technologies and training. The award also recognizes DHA’s partnership with other public entities along the West Corridor FasTracks light rail line to build affordable housing and the South Lincoln Apartments as one of the “100 Recovery Act Projects Changing America.”

• Villalobos Concrete, Civil Subcontractor of the Year
• Humphries Poli Architects, Design/Engineering Firm of the Year

• Maranda Pleau, Hensel Phelps Construction, Past President’s Award
• Leneé Koch, LEI Cos., Committee Chair of the Year
• Lourdes and Mayela Villalba, Volunteers of the Year
• Denver Transit Construction Group, Large General Contractor Safety Award
• Roche Constructors, Mid-Size General Contractor Safety Award
• AMI Mechanical, Large Subcontractor Safety Award
• LEI Cos., Small Subcontractor Safety Award
